11.11 DATA INSIGHTS – HOTEL BOOKINGS SURGES OVER 300

11.11 DATA SHOWS STRONG SIGNS OF DOMESTIC TOURISM RECOVERY

The tourism industry has been suffering over the past 20 months due to the impact of the pandemic. Thanks to the successful implementation of The National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme, fully vaccinated Malaysians are once again allowed to travel interstates, and soon overseas via Vaccinated Travel Lane to Singapore.

Following the reopening announcement, SHOPBACK MALAYSIA and our major travel aggregators (OTAs) including AGODA, BOOKING.COM, Hotels.com, KLOOK, and Trip.com experienced a steady increase in travel related purchases since October. During 11.11, Travel even emerged as one of the top categories with over 300% increase in terms of gross merchandise value (GMV) compared to a normal day in September (before the lifting of interstate travel ban).
