THE COFFEE BEAN & TEA LEAF® TEAMS UP WITH ASSUNTA INTEGRATED SOCIAL SERVICES (ASSISS) TO SPREAD KINDNESS THIS SEASON

CB&TL’s Caring Cup

Kuala Lumpur, 17 November 2020 – In difficult times, even small acts of kindness can make a big difference, and customers of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® (CB&TL) have been instrumental in helping Assunta Integrated Social Services (ASSISS) continue in their mission to serve the underprivileged. Their services include a mobile clinic, and the funds raised in collaboration with CB&TL will be used for the purchase of an additional van to reach more communities in need.

“We are very pleased to announce that CB&TL’s Caring Cup initiative has gathered donations amounting to RM142,000, which will be used to purchase a new van for ASSISS,” said Fiona Rodrigues, Director of Marketing & Development, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® Malaysia. “For years now, ASSISS has been providing marginalised communities with medical check-ups, services and supplies, and this year, the Covid-19 pandemic has seen even more people in need of these services. It is also fitting that this effort coincides with the recent World Kindness Day and it has been a privilege for CB&TL to support their worthy efforts throughout 2020. We will continue to do so throughout the holiday season through the sale of Caring Cup Gift Tags and donation boxes at all CB&TL outlets.”

Proceeds from the popular Caring Cup Gift Tags, available in new designs until 4 January 2021, will help to fund upgrades and essential supplies so that ASSISS can continue their good works.

“Healthcare is an essential service, but for many communities it remains out of reach. In 2019 alone, ASSISS provided medical care or assistance to 11, 597 patients in Klang Valley, Kota Kinabalu, Keningau, Kuching and Bukit Mertajam. During such uncertain and trying times, there has been an even greater need and with the addition of a new van, ASSISS will be able to reach more people in need,” said Sr Elizabeth Tan, FMM, Chairperson of ASSISS. “This collaboration with The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® Malaysia is greatly appreciated and comes at a very important time for ASSISS and the people who rely on us for assistance.”
