AIRASIA RUNAWAY READY DESIGNER SEARCH 2017 ANNOUNCES THE TOP 2 FINALIST REPRESENTING MALAYSIA!

AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search is back for the third season and the Malaysian audition round was held in Kuala Lumpur today. The two finalists chosen to represent Malaysia are Andrew Low (26 years old) and Phynix Tan Pek Han (22 years old) where they will be showcasing their creations at the Grand Finale which will take place in Kuala Lumpur this August.

The AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search 2017 is on a regional tour to ten Asean countries, providing aspiring designers the opportunity of a lifetime to compete on a regional level and showcase their collection on a professional runway during the KL Fashion Week Ready to Wear.

Aireen Omar, Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia said, “We know that talent is abundant across the Asean region and we are proud to have initiated this platform to help up-and-coming designers kick-start their careers. We saw a vast of amazing ideas and creativity from the participants today which made it rather challenging for the judges to pick the best two finalists representing Malaysia. We would like to congratulate all participants for a putting forth such a fantastic job and we wish the finalists all the best for the Grand Finale in August.” 

Aspiring Malaysia designers went through extensive rounds of judging today and were selected based on design creativity, originality, consistency of their collection, adherence to the Asean theme, practicality and stage presentation potential.

The regional auditions will continue in all the capital cities throughout all Asean countries where two from each country will be selected to battle for the top honour during the Grand Finale in Kuala Lumpur this August.

Both finalists from today’s audition in Malaysia will stand a chance to win 150,000 AirAsia BIG Points; RM25,000 fund to produce a capsule collection to be sold on fashionvalet.com; a six-page fashion spread in AirAsia’s in-flight magazine, Travel3Sixty; AirAsia flights and mentorship from the KLFW RTW, apart from a confirmed slot to showcase their full collection in KL Fashion Week RTW 2018.

The panel of judges for the audition today consisted of Aireen Omar, Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia; Andrew Tan, Founder of KL Fashion  Week Ready to Wear; Vivy Yusof, Co-Founder of FashionValet; Alia Bastamam, Fashion Designer and Yang Mei Ling, Editor of FEMALE Malaysia Magazine.

AirAsia is also KLFW RTW 2017’s Preferred Travel Partner and will be flying in fashion designers from AirAsia and AirAsia X Groups’ extensive route network including India, Japan, China, South Korea and Australia to showcase their latest collection at the KLFW RTW runway.
