MALAYSIA FIRST TOYSPITAL - SUNWAY MEDICAL CENTRE

Volunteers at the variety of medical stations teaching children
on what happens during a typical hospital experience.

Sunway Medical Centre recently held Malaysia’s first ever Toyspital, 2017,a fun filled event where 297 children gathered and were given an opportunity to be a doctor for a day.Organized in collaboration with theMalaysian Medics International Ireland (MMII) and the Malaysian Medics International Malaysia (MMIM), Sunway Medical Centre embarked on a quest to familiarize children with healthcare, using role play to remove their fears of visits to hospitals.

Children at the Toyspital were invited to bring their own teddy bears / plush toys and were asked to treat and diagnose their ‘patients’ through the help of seven planned medical stations and commonly used medical instruments based on their own experiences at the doctor’s office. The little doctors and patients made their way through stations which includedNutrition, Scanning and Imaging, First Aid, Surgery, Exercise, Dental and Consultation.

Children from three orphanages (Pusat Jagaan Cahaya Kasih Bestari, Rumah Nur Sakinah and Ractar Orphanage) and a private kindergarten (Blooming Tots House) attended the fun filled community event.
